Trent HR is the University’s HR & Payroll system. Trent HR was introduced in April 2008.

Trent HR features a Self Service tool which allows staff on open-ended and fixed term contracts to view and update some of their details as held in the University's HR and Payroll records. The Self Service system also allows you to view your payslips online. For more information, including how to access Trent Self Service, visit http://www.exeter.ac.uk/staff/services/selfservice/ (Trent Self Service is not available to individuals engaged on a claims basis, including those engaged through the Temporary Staff Bank (TSB) and Graduate Teaching Fellows.)

Manager access in Schools and Services: in autumn 2009, School Managers and their equivalents in Professional Services, Heads of Schools and Services and line managers will be given limited read-only access to information about staff in their School and Service. Additionally, line managers will be given limited read-only access ('People Manager') to information about the staff who work for them. When annual leave booking via employee self-service is introduced, line managers will approve leave request via People Manager.

Future Developments

e-recruitment: will allow all job applicants to apply online. This will improve the University's ability to undertake equality and diversity monitoring of recruitment activity and, in turn, achieve Two Ticks status for its commitment to the employment of people with disabilities.
e-SR1: we are continuing work on the development of an e-SR1, to replace the paper SR1, allowing Colleges and Services to track progress of their proposals.
Booking annual leave through Trent self-service: from the beginning of the 2010 leave year in 2010, booking of annual leave through Trent self-service was introduced in some Services. We are planning to extend this to other Services and Colleges from the commencement of the 2011 leave year.
sickness absence: we have begun to work with Sickness Information Coordinators in some Services to replace the current arrangements of sending weekly paper returns of sickness absence to Human Resources with direct input into Trent HR. During 2010/11, this will be extended to Colleges and other Services. This will improve the timeliness of information and give Schools and Services greater access to sickness absence data about staff in their teams.
reporting: following the creation of Colleges, we have simplified and standardised the reports (and scheduling arrangements) for managers in Colleges. This simplification will be applied to Professional Services in due course.
