Web-TAS New features from October 2008
The Web-TAS system changed between the second period, completed in April 2008, and the third period, completed in October 2008. The intention was to make the forms easier for staff to complete, so the forms have a slightly different “feel” to them.
The main changes
- Separate positions/ jobs shown for staff with more than one;
- Separation of Term and Vacation time in the TAS form;
- “Save” button for incomplete data, “Finish” button to submit completed data;
- Ability to return to the TAS Form and edit it after submitting it.
Staff with more than one job
After logging in, the page will:
- List their positions/ jobs;
- Hyperlink to the relevant TAS form;
- Bar access to positions where the school administrator would normally complete the form on behalf of the staff member.
The email system will recognise if any of the posts still need to be completed by the member of staff, even if one of them has been finished.
Separation of Term and Vacation time
Whilst the categories of time remain the same, the form now asks for two sets of data, one for the term time and one for the vacation time.
This should make time analysis much easier for staff, particularly academics, whose work pattern changes significantly between term and vacation.
Each column should sum to 100%, otherwise the system will not allow you to “finish”.
“Save” and “Finish” buttons
The “Finish” button is a renaming of the previous version’s Submit button.
- “Save” button: Use for incomplete data - helpful if you have an interruption during the form-filling. Only available if the data do not sum to 100.
The data will be held until you return to complete the form.
- “Finish” button: Use this to submit completed data. Only available if the percentages sum to 100%.
Ability to edit your data
Once your data has been submitted as complete by clicking the “Finish” button, you may revisit your data and change it.
This may be useful if a review highlights something unusual about the data you have submitted and you need to change it.
This will only be available whilst the system is open. When it is closed, the system will say, “TAS submission is NOT currently active”. The system will only normally be open for several weeks at the end of each period.
