Keeping to the left at the rustic bridge

Keeping to the left at the rustic bridge the path climbs up towards North Park Road and as one passes the rockery with its collection of alpine plants one might just catch the scent of curry given off by a nearby white flowered Escallonia from Chile.

Before leaving this section and crossing into North Park Road, visitors may wish to look for the line of Redwoods (Sequoia sempervirens, named after Sequoyah, a Cherokee indian) along the grass verge to the left and right. The tree is native to California and was introduced into England in 1843 and is considered the world's tallest tree. Also on the right, close to the top of the footpath, is an interesting hybrid Laburnocytisus Adamii which, when in flower, carries blooms of both yellow laburnum and purple broom on the same tree.
